Tumalo Historic Cemetery Meeting

Tumalo, Ore. – The Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries will offer a historic cemetery and marker repair workshop July 18 near Tumalo.

The workshop will be from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Tumalo Pioneer Cemetery, about 1.8 miles north of Tumalo on the Cline Falls Highway. The free workshop will address marker assessment, cleaning, leveling and repair.

In conjunction with the workshop, the Oregon Commission on Historic Cemeteries will also conduct a public meeting in Bend from 1-4 p.m. July 17 at the Des Chutes Historical Museum, 129 NW Idaho Ave.

State law established the seven-member commission to maintain a listing of all historic cemeteries and grave sites in Oregon; promote public education on the significance of historic cemeteries; and help obtain financial and technical assistance for restoring, improving and maintaining their appearances.
