Oregon Lawmakers Mourn Death Of Brady Adams

Salem, Ore. — Today, Senator Herman Baertschiger, Jr. (R-Grants Pass) released the following statement on the passing of former Senate President Brady Adams on Monday. Adams represented Grants Pass in the Oregon Legislature for eight years.

“Brady Adams was a visionary leader who valued community involvement and spent three decades serving Grants Pass,” said Senator Baertschiger. “His commitment to this community and various non-profits was significant. It is an honor to now hold his Senate seat.”

“Brady Adams used to say to me that communities are strongest when brought together by shared positive experiences,” said Michael Sellers, Chief of Staff to Senator Baertschiger and former Project Manager for Adams at Evergreen Federal Bank. “He taught me a lot about bringing people together.”

Brady Adams was elected to the Legislature in 1992 and served as Senate President for the 1997 and 1999 Legislative sessions. Senator Baertschiger was elected to the same seat Adams held representing Grants Pass and Josephine County in 2012.

And, Senate Republican Leader Ted Ferrioli (R-John Day) released the following statement following the loss of former Senate President Brady Adams on Monday.

“It was a great joy and honor to serve with Senate President Brady Adams,” said Senator Ferrioli. “He was my role model for patient, wise, accommodating leadership during my first years in the Senate. He was principled, fair and unswervingly loyal to his family, his community and to the Oregon way of governance.”

“Brady Adams’ legacy of transparency, fiscal conservatism and personal accountability make him an Oregon leader for the ages. Everyone who knew him misses him, but his legacy lives on,” said Ferrioli.
