Candidate Details For 2 Local Elementary Schools

Bend, Ore. – The Bend La Pine School District says parents and other community members are invited to meet the finalists for two principal positions within Bend-La Pine Schools next week. Community members will be able to ask principal candidates questions and offer feedback. The new principals will start effective July 1, 2015.

La Pine Elementary School will host a principal open house with the three finalists Monday, March 9 at 5 p.m. in the library.

The three finalists for the position at La Pine Elementary School are:

Patrick Flanagan is currently a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher at Juniper Elementary School in Bend, where has worked in since 2007. Flanagan also serves on the Report Card Task Force for Bend-La Pine Schools and as the Technology Facilitator at Juniper Elementary School. Flanagan began his teaching career in San Diego in 2000 and has 15 years of classroom teaching experience.

David Robinson is currently the principal at Ochoco Elementary School in Prineville, where he has served since 2012. Prior to that he was a student supervisor for Sexton Mountain Elementary School in Beaverton, Oregon. Robinson began his career as a teacher in 1988 and has 19 years of classroom teaching experience.

Tamara Skordahl is currently the principal at Oakridge Junior/Senior High School in Oakridge, Oregon, a position she has held since 2014. Prior to that, Skodahl served as principal for Oakridge Elementary School from 2006 to 2014. She began her career as a classroom teacher in Sitka, Alaska in 1982 and has 23 years of classroom teaching experience.

The three finalists for the position at William E. Miller Elementary School are:

Jennifer Healy is currently the Assistant Principal at Miller Elementary School, a position she has served in since 2009. She serves on the districtís Math Strategic Team. She began her teaching career in Florida and has 14 years of classroom teaching experience, including eight years at High Lakes Elementary School in Bend.

Brian Kissell is currently the Principal at Ada Harris Elementary School in Cardiff School District in Cardiff, California, a position he has served in since 2010. Prior to that, Kissell served as the Dean of Student Affairs at the San Diego Jewish Academy for four years. Kissell began his teaching career in California and has 11 years of classroom teaching experience.

Tamara Skordahl – Skordahl is also a finalist for the position at William E. Miller Elementary School.
