LA GRANDE, Ore. — More signs of wildfire season coming to an end, as today the Oregon Department of Forestry lifts the Regulated-Use Closure for private forestlands in the Northeast Oregon District.
Campfires and warming fires are now allowed with landowner permission.
However, fire season remains in effect for public lands in the Northeast Oregon District. Open fires (except campfires), debris burns and burn barrels on ODF protected lands require a burn permit.
This year, 66 lightning-caused and 31 human-caused fires have burned nearly 900 acres in the Northeast Oregon District.
