Bethlehem Inn Looking To Meet Hot Weather Needs

Bethlehem.Inn.STOCKBEND, OR — With hot weather returning to the area this week, officials with the Bethlehem Inn are preparing to address the specific needs of Central Oregon’s homeless.  Chris Clouart told KBNW News as the region’s only emergency shelter serving men, women and children, they don’t serve just one sect, population or socioeconomic group.

“We’ve had three births at the Bethlehem Inn, we’ve had three deaths at the Bethlehem Inn, that gives you a scope of the population that we serve.  We will serve anyone that shows up at our door who can meet some basic requirements.  Those basic requirements are can you pass a drug test, can you pass a breathalizer test and you can’t be a registered sex offender.”

Clouart said they can help up to 75 people, including families with young children.  And, he says they are currently seeing some of the greatest request for assistance in six year.

Clouart added their needs change during the hotter weather; more water, socks, toiletries, etc.  To learn more, or to find out how you can donate money or time, visit the Bethlehem Inn’s Website.
