WARM SPRINGS, OR — Crews have the Logging Unit Fires burning on the western edge of the Warm Springs Reservation 75% contained. The fires, first reported July 16th, have consumed 10,488 acres of timber and grass.
The 1,291 firefighters on the frontlines reported minimal growth on Friday. Officials said the cooler, wetter weather forced the fire to creep and smolder, allowing for firefighting progress. Over the weekend, crews plan to continue to construction and improve direct lines when possible. They will also continue to prepare for burnout operations when the weather cooperates.
Officials said they still anticipate having the Logging Unit Fires contained by Friday.
