CODE’s Mannix Honored

Kenn MannixBEND, OR — The commander of Central Oregon’s team of drug enforcement officers has been honored with a statewide award.

Oregon’s Narcotics Enforcement Association (ONEA) and the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) have named Bend Police Lieutenant Ken Mannix “2014 Outstanding Task Force Commander.”  Lt. Mannix leads the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement team, also known as “CODE”, where Bend PD officials say he “provides effective leadership” as he manages “significant drug investigations.”

CODE team members come from 11 different federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.  Under Lt. Mannix’s command, the team has executed hundreds of search warrants, seized a substantial amount of drugs, guns and money, resulting in a large number of arrests.

Prescribed Pile Burning Planned Wednesday

Crooked River National Grassland and Ochoco National Forest are planning prescribed fire operations this Wednesday, February 04 around 10:00 a.m., pending all required approvals. Prescribed fires planned for the area include: Approximately 70 acres within the Crooked
