Oregon Department of Revenue Releases Marijuana Tax Collection Numbers

SALEM, Ore.–As of July 31, the Department of Revenue has processed $25.5 million in marijuana tax payments this year.

Medical marijuana dispensaries started collecting a 25-percent tax on their recreational marijuana sales in January.

Dispensaries’ second quarter returns were due August 1, 2016.

Any dispensary that collected taxes on the sale of recreational marijuana products is required to file a quarterly return. Dispensaries can be penalized for failing to file these returns in a timely manner.

The quarterly return form and instructions are available at www.oregon.gov/dor/marijuana.

If dispensaries have any questions about filling out the form or their filing obligation, they can contact the Marijuana Tax Program at (503) 947-2597 or marijuanatax.dor@oregon.gov.
