(NEW YORK) — We’ve got our new Detective Riggs.
Clayne Crawford, whose credits include 24, NCIS: New Orleans and Sundance TV’s Rectify, will fill the Mel Gibson role in a Fox adaptation of Lethal Weapon, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Crawford will star as Martin Riggs, an unstable Texas cop and former Navy SEAL who moves to L.A., where he’s partnered with veteran Det. Roger Murtaugh, who’ll be played this time around by Damon Wayans Sr.
Gibson starred as Riggs opposite Danny Glover’s Murtaugh in four Lethal Weapon movies, the first in 1987 and the last in 1998.
Fast and Furious actress Jordana Brewster was previously announced as a cast member as well.
No word on when the reboot will debut.
