Oregon State Police Continue To Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Florence, Ore. – A man from Germany was killed and 2 others injured in a motorcycle crash on the coast. Yesterday afternoon State Police responded to a crash involving several motorcycles on Highway 101, north of Florence.

According to witnesses, three motorcycles were northbound on Hwy 101 in the process of passing two vehicles in a no passing zone when the lead motorcycle abruptly slowed causing all three motorcycles to collide.

One of the motorcycle operators, a 58 year old male, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other motorcycle operators, two men aged 53 and 51, were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. All three riders were German citizens and attempts are being made to notify their families. Their names will be released when notification to next of kin has been made.

Highway 101 was closed for approximately two hours in both directions to allow the investigation to be conducted.
