Bend, Ore. – Bend Fire crews were dispatched to a reported unknown type fire with black smoke seen near Boyd Acres and Brinson. Additional callers identified it as a motor home on fire within just a few feet of a commercial building, and the incident was upgraded to a full structure fire response.

Upon arrival, the motor home was fully involved, with flames impinging on the metal siding of the building. Crews quickly suppressed the fire and ensured that the fire did not extend into the building.

The metal siding and adjacent insulation were damaged on the building, however, the fire did not spread to the interior of the structure. The motor home, a 26 foot 1980 Winnebago Chieftain, was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
