Alcohol And Speed May Have Played Factor In Fatal Crash

The victim in this case has been identified as a man from Ione, Oregon. Cayle Krebs was 30.

No charges have been filed in this case, as the investigation is still underway.

Prineville, Ore. – The Crook County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol and speed may have caused a fatal crash must before midnight last night.

One passenger in a Ford Truck was thrown from the bed of the truck and died at the crash scene.

At approximately 11:47 p.m. deputies from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of SE Bear Creek Road in southern Crook County, approximately 50 miles south of Prineville on a reported fatal motor vehicle crash.

Lifeflight out of Redmond was dispatched and was already on scene upon arrival. The Oregon State Police and paramedics from Crook County Fire & Rescue as well as Bend Fire & Rescue assisted at the scene.

The driver and three passengers were in a 2004 Ford F350 extended cab truck. Two of the passengers were riding in the bed of the truck prior to the crash. Police say the driver was traveling south on SE Bear Creek Road near milepost 13 when they lost control and rolled the truck. The two passengers in the pickup bed were thrown from the bed. One of the passengers was deceased upon arrival.

Information is being withheld pending further investigation and notification of next of kin.
