April High Desert Hero Is From La Pine High School

La Pine, Ore. – The Center Foundation) is pleased to announce Conrad Parker as the April 2015 High Desert Hero.

Conrad is a senior at LaPine High School where he holds a 4.1 weighted GPA and is ranked first in his class. Conrad is Secretary of the LaPine High School National Honor Society, a member of the band, and Future Business Leaders of America.

He also serves as the LaPine High school representative on the LaPine city council. Conrad has participated in four varsity sports during his high school career including; basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and track. He was selected by his coaches and teammates as the captain of the varsity soccer team in 2012 and 2014.

Conrad participates in many volunteer activities including; working at the LaPine Community Kitchen, coaching and mentoring at the LaPine Children’s Basketball Camp and Youth Soccer League, and assisting with the National Forest Service Outdoor School.

In 2013 and 2014, Conrad received the Certificate of Excellence, numerous Outstanding Student awards, and was on the Honor Roll. According to LaPine High School Principal, Matt Montgomery, “Conrad is a true leader that walks the talk and will be successful at whatever he decides to do.” Montgomery goes on to say, “Conrad is respected by staff, students, and community members. He is a young man of high character!” Rusty Zysett, La Pine Athletic Director, says “Conrad has service in the forefront of his mind in everything he does…I have known him to be dedicated, accomplished, and enthusiastic in everything he has done here.” Please help us in celebrating this outstanding Central Oregon student.

Each month TCF selects an outstanding high school senior who maintain a 3.5 or higher unweighted GPA, displays leadership in school activities, and participates in the community. High Desert Heroes receive a $250 scholarship, and will be highlighted on myWindow and on Horizon Broadcasting Group radio stations. High Desert Heroes are eligible to compete for the prestigious William K Worrell Scholarship of $5,000. All High Desert Heroes will be acknowledged at the May 6, 2015, Scholarship Awards Dinner.
