Fatal Plane Crash In Prineville

Prineville, Ore. – NewsChannel 21 is reporting that a pilot was killed in a small plane crash at the Prineville airport this afternoon. They say it happened on take off, shortly after 2 p.m.

Local authorities reported only one person on board. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The crash reportedly involved a kit plane.

The airport is located on the hill west of highway 126, about 3 miles southwest of Prineville. Witnesses told NewsChannel 21 firefighters were putting out a blaze at the end of the runway.
