Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office investigating this case have arrested and lodged Jerry S. Hannu on the charge of Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver to Injured Person(s) ORS 811.705 (B Felony) with a bail amount of $15,000.00

This was an incident that occurred in front of the La Pine Inn Restaurant last night. Bartleson was struck by a full sized pickup truck that was driven by Hannu. Hannu fled the scene on foot prior to law enforcement arrival.

Hannu was contacted and arrested today without incident. This investigation is still ongoing. No further information will be available until further notice. An updated press release will follow when the investigation is complete.

On 10/31/14, at approximately 8:57 PM, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Sunriver Police Department and La Pine Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Hwy 97, near William Foss Rd., in La Pine, OR, for a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. ODOT arrived on scene and assisted with traffic control.

The initial investigation has determined the vehicle was northbound on Highway 97 when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office detectives and a crash reconstructionist responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
